Knowing how to use water is knowing how to reach success and wealth. We all know that Water plays a major role in Feng Shui. Water formulas are the most sacred knowledge in Feng Shui practice, however sometimes people don’t use water properly therefore activating negative energy instead. This article is primary written for those who wish to use Feng Shui in their homes or apartments without too much fuss and activate positive energy in the right way.   I would like to highlight that I cover houses/apartments build in the period of 8 starting from 2004 to present time only.  Also, I have to mention that certain properties built in certain periods are not suggested to use Water for activating energy because those houses or apartments fall into a special category and there is no suitable location for a water fixture inside a home or apartment. For such houses/apartments there are alternative solutions or methods that are used to activate positive energy, but it is not so easy and simple. The best way is to invite a Feng Shui master.

In order to find the most favorable location for water (preferably to use aquarium instead of a fountain or water fixture) in your home you will need to do a small amount of homework first.  A mere four easy steps are required so that you can find the right place for water in your home.

Step #1- Determine Facing Direction of your home using compass.
Step #2- Have plan of your home ready.
Step #3- Place Grid on the plan.
Step #4 – Mark a favorable location for water fixture or aquarium.

Step #1- Determine Facing Direction of your home using compass.

How to find facing direction of your home? The facing direction is the direction in which your home has been built to face. In certain cases it is not an easy task to distinguish facing direction, please do not confuse with a Main Door location, in other words Facing Direction is it façade of your home.

Secondly, you must to have good compass, just remember that in Feng Shui all calculation and all formulas based on compass. Now, we all know that there are 8 compass directions North; South; East; West; Northeast; Northwest; Southeast and Southwest. However in Feng Shui those 8 compass direction turns divided into three parts depending on the compass degree where it falls to, for example South divided into the South 1; South 2 and South 3.  Here you can find out exactly which direction your home belongs to.

Stand with a compass in front of your property (your property should be behind you) and make a note of compass degrees, for example:  South – 171.3.  compass degrees, it means that you house belong to the South 1, please refer to the table.

Step #2- Have plan of your home ready.

Then take a floor plan of your home (better an architect or draftsman’s version, but you can draw it by yourself) Then with red pen and ruler draw nine grids on your plan, like shown on picture below,  first mark the facing direction like shown on the picture here.
